Leaning into Color: Favorite Color Trends of 2023

I cannot believe we are halfway into 2023! That means its past the time to refresh our color palettes and explore the gorgeous shades that are taking over the world-of-design. This year, many trends embrace nature and focus on earthly inspirations. Let’s chat about it.

Whites

This color always takes center stage as a timeless trend. One of my faves! White provides a blank canvas for any beautiful, clean space. Use it for seamless integration with other colors, textures, and patterns. Add a touch of modern elegance to any setting with a wash of white, cream or beige.

A few of my favorites are:
Benjamin Moore’s Simply White
Sherwin Williams’ Snowbound
Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace

Soft Pastels:

These muted colors bring back memories of favorite places; Sun Valley, Idaho sunsets and the San Juan Islands. Dusty and soft pastels are huge right now, and I am living for it! Add a sense of relaxation to any space with these softer shades.

Pick up a creamy pastel:
Sherwin Williams’ Malted Milk
Benjamin Moore’s Quiet Moments

Earth Tones:

These natural colors are experiencing a renaissance in 2023. With their warm, grounding, and almost organic hues, these sandy beiges, terracotta oranges, and deep cinnamon browns reflect rugged landscapes and desert terrains. Earth tones are warm, assuring and settling.

Fall in love with these colors:
Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter
Benjamin Moore’s Edgecomb Gray
Benjamin Moore’s Manchester Tan

Greens:

I am going green in 2023. Why? This fresh color makes a home more cultured and grounded. From rich emeralds to velvety mosses to subtle sages, incorporate this versatile color into your home with gorgeous accent walls, throw pillows, or fresh plants. Bring a sense of balance to almost any space.

Reinvigorate your space with these choices:
Sherwin Williams’ Sea Salt
Benjamin Moore’s October Mist
Sherwin Williams’ Homburg Gray

Warm Yellows:

Ah, yellow, a hue that emits optimism, joy, and happiness. Who couldn't use a fun and vibrant dose of positivity? Warm yellows range from golden sunflower tones to mellow mustard shades, creating a radiant atmosphere. From accent pillows to art pieces, this color can invigorate any space with a sunny and uplifting vibe.

Mellow out with:
Benjamin Moore’s Philadelphia Cream
Sherwin Williams’ Believable Buff

Don't be afraid of color! Whether you decide to use the simplicity of white, the tranquility of muted pastels, the warmth of earthy hues, the comfort of mossy greens, or the optimism of warm yellows, these colors will reinvigorate the aesthetic in your home. Playing with color is a fun design element that you can change as often as you like. Let’s lean into it and add a little color to our lives.
