Styling Your Shelves to Perfection

Entryways are the perfect opportunity for showcasing your style on a simple shelf making a great first impression.

More than just storage, think of shelves as decorating opportunities and expressions of your style. Staring at your empty shelves can feel overwhelming, and it is often tough to know where to start. How do I organize everything? How should I arrange items? Should I group by size or by color? And, finally, where do I find these beautiful items?

If you’re anything like me, these are the kinds of questions that keep you up at night! Here are some of my best insider tips and sources to conquer your shelf decorating nightmares and give your shelves a beautiful, harmonious look. I can help!

Living Room Shelves

Add a little life to your decor by placing plants, sculpture, or organic items like baskets atop or around your living room shelving.

Kitchen shelves

Because. we often live in open spaces, the transition between living room and kitchen is not that far off. Mix utilitarian items with decor for the perfect combination of form and function.

Bedroom Shelves

Stoneware doesn’t have to be cold. Gorgeous ceramic or stoneware vases mix well with the warmth of your bedding and linens and give the eye relief and relaxation. Keep your lines soft and your colors neutral to achieve bedroom bliss!

Home Office Shelves

An obvious choice for styling on any shelf are books. But spotlighting, stacking both horizontally and vertically, and grouping them with pint-size artwork give your office shelves personality and warmth.

Bathroom Shelves

Once again, don’t fall into the trap of pure utility. Hide your toothpaste, every day jewelry or neatly rolled towels on the shelf where you can easily get to them without ruining your style. Keep these bathroom items neatly concealed in woven baskets, pretty jars and beautiful pottery.

The last step is to blend together all of the tips above for a fresh and consistent look throughout your home. You can always mix textures, sizes, and tones, but keep a singular color palette and style for the prettiest effect.
